An Update on Mom

Merry New Year!

You know it’s a merry new year because I, Kimber the Magnificent, say so.

And cuz its’ January 1 and we kinda missed Christmas this year. More on that in a min. So kindly keep your hair on, Cupcake.

Being all brilliant and everything.

Where was I? Oh yeah. I have some other things to say as we ring in the new year. (No idea what that means. But Mom seems to like it. So I do, too.)

Speaking of The Ole Curmudgeon, we thought the new year would be a good time for an update. Cuz we’ve been away from the blog since October. We’ve been away so long, in fact, that one of us forgot her login credentials. Not to fret. Being all brilliant and everything, I fixed that!

Anyway, this is the part where you read or re-read our October 1 post. If you haven’t read that yet or forgot it, now would be good. Otherwise this post won’t make any sense.

That’s okay. I’ll wait.

Up to speed now? Good.

I’m letting you know that Her Royal Momness is doing okay. She’s pretty sure her physical therapist is related to Simon Legree. No idea what that means. But it doesn’t sound fun.

Anywho, Mom is working hard. Holding her own. Not feeling quite as overwhelmed as she did when first diagnosed a few months ago. She also told me to say THANK YOU to you, our woniferous readers, for your many kindnesses and expressions of support. You’re PAWsome!

I know. I’m AWESOME!

Now. One of us isn’t quite up to resuming book blogging on a regular basis. Frankly, the mere thought of same is exhausting. But we’ll get there. Hopefully sooner rather than later if all goes well.

So thanks for reading. And thanks for your kindness and continued patience.

TTFN,

Kimber the Magnificent

Kindly Note: Kimber wrote this post a couple weeks ago for auto-launch today. Since then, Super Dad has been in the hospital. Like, 8 days in ICU. Three days on life support.

Dad went into a local hospital on Dec. 22 for what should’ve been a fairly simple procedure. He vomited while under sedation. Some vomit aspirated into his lungs.

He was on life support for three days, re: Acute Hypoxic Respiratory Failure + Aspiration Pneumonia.

AHRF is a sudden, severe, and life-threatening condition where the lungs can’t get enough oxygen into the blood. It requires immediate medical care with oxygen therapy and often mechanical ventilation.

He is still in the hospital, but on the Med/Surg floor instead of Critical Care. He’s making progress. Little by little. The road to recovery is long and slow. Baby steps.

We have a couple more pre-written posts scheduled to auto-launch later this month. But our #1 priority for the foreseeable future is taking care of Super Dad.

Thanks for understanding. You’re PAWsome!
