“Un-Put-Downable.”

That’s a new word Mom and I just made up. You already know what it means. So here’s the scoop on this gripping and intense barn burner. We couldn’t put it down!

The Story

A serial killer is on the loose in the small Amish community of St. Ignatius, Montana. And it’s not the first time.

“The game had started. No one would stand in his way. No one.”

Before she left the faith, Leah Miller’s entire family was murdered by a cold-blooded psychopath. Everyone thought the killer died in a house fire. That was ten years ago. Since then, Leah has joined the local police department.

“The inevitable showdown coming had been a decade in the making. When it was over, would any of them be left standing?”

Uh-Oh

But after another young Amish woman is murdered with the same MO, it becomes clear that the wrong man was accused of murdering Leah’s family – and the real killer has Leah in his crosshairs. She reluctantly teams up with new police chief Dalton Cooper. Sparks begin to fly.

But Dalton has secrets of his own. And what about Leah’s adoptive mom, Marge? Are her strange comments connected to her dementia, or is she hiding something? Can Leah and Dalton catch the killer before it’s too late?

”It isn’t your guilt to carry.”

Our Take

Wow. Just wow!

This is a white-knuckled page-turner, for sure! Emotionally gripping and expertly written, Among The Innocent is a gently faith-flavored read that’s one hundred percent absorbing from start to finish.

We hadn’t heard of Mary Alford before the author reached out to us requesting a review. So we didn’t know what to expect. After reading this gripping novel, however, it’s easy to see why Alford is a “USA Today bestselling and award-winning author of more than fifty novels.”

Needless to say, we’ll be grabbing a lot more of her work. Cuz if any of Alford’s other titles are even close to Among The Innocent, we’re gonna have to take  more naps. Cuz they’ll keep us awake all night too.

See what I mean? Un-Put-Downable.

Our Rating: 5.0
